Gas chromatography is generally used to determine residual solvents because of its excellent separation abilities and low limit of detection. In gas chromatography the sample is either dissolved in a suitable solvent than injected directly (DI) ( Haky and Stickney, 1985 , Smith and Waters, 1991 ) or by headspace sampling ( Markovich et al., 1997 , Ruchatz et al., 1996 ).
